Band Walk Alert TENKYO – Gold User Manual

Band Walk Alert TENKYO GOLD User Guide

This product focuses on “the initial velocity of price” during a Bollinger Band expansion. It statistically verifies whether a newly forming sign will be followed by a large subsequent move in price, and detects only that moment as the “initial thrust.”

Thanks to its proprietary secure logic, the system prioritizes “not losing” over “a counter-trend bet chasing a comeback.” The moment it judges that a trend is not developing, it withdraws from the market early, firmly protecting your capital until the next “big wave.” This is the true essence of TENKYO.

About Supported Symbols: This product is dedicated exclusively to two symbols: XAUUSD (Gold) and XAGUSD (Silver). A single indicator file supports both symbols — it automatically detects the chart’s symbol and applies parameters optimized for that symbol. If you attach it to any other symbol (such as an FX currency pair), a warning dialog stating it is unsupported will appear in the center of the chart.

1. Installation Guide for MT5

1. Downloading the Product

Click the product icon on the download page of the official website to download the compressed file in ZIP format.

2. Extracting the File

Right-click the downloaded ZIP file and select “Extract All” or “Unzip”. Once extracted, you will find BandWalkAlertTENKYO_GOLD_Pro.ex5 inside. This is the indicator file. A single file supports both XAUUSD and XAGUSD charts.

3. Installing in MT5

Restart MT5, or right-click in the Navigator panel and click “Refresh” — the product name will then appear in the list.

4. These are the steps to make MT5 recognize the downloaded file.

  • Open the MT5 menu and click File > Open Data Folder.
  • In the folder that opens, navigate through MQL5 > Experts.
  • Right-click the downloaded BandWalkAlertTENKYO_GOLD_Pro.ex5 file, select “Copy”, and then “Paste” it inside the “Experts” folder.
  • Go to the Navigator panel on the left side of the MT5 screen (if it is not visible, press Ctrl + N), right-click on Expert Advisors, and select Refresh.
  • Open the MT5 menu and click “Tools” > “Options” > “Expert Advisors” tab, check “Allow WebRequest for listed URL”, and add https://tenkyo-fx.com exactly as shown.
  • Double-click BandWalkAlertTENKYO_GOLD_Pro in the Navigator list, or drag and drop it onto the chart you want to trade on (XAUUSD or XAGUSD).
  • Copy all the included recommended parameter setting files into the “MQL5” > “Files” folder.

2. Product Authentication (License Activation)

The moment you attach the EA to a chart, a “[License Authorization]” dialog appears in the center of the screen. Until authentication succeeds, the EA will not function correctly, including the dashboard and panel calculations.

  • Confirm that https://tenkyo-fx.com was correctly added to the “Allow WebRequest for listed URL” list you configured in the previous section.
  • In the authentication dialog’s input field, enter the activation code (serial key) issued to you at purchase, then click “Activate.”
  • Entering TRIAL here lets you try the product with full functionality, unrestricted, for 14 days.
  • Once authentication succeeds, the dialog closes automatically and the EA begins operating normally.

If you see an error: “WebRequest is currently disabled” means you should re-check the URL registration from the previous section. “Invalid code” means there may be a typo in your activation code (full-width/half-width characters, stray spaces, etc.) — please double-check it. Your authentication result is cached locally so it carries over even if you re-attach the EA to a chart; if you install the same EA on multiple charts on the same terminal, every chart after the first starts up already authenticated.

3. Filling History Data (Crucial: Data Verification)

This is the task of correctly importing past price data into MT5, which serves as the basis for statistical calculations. If you skip this step, the values on the dashboard will be inaccurate.

Before you begin: open “Tools” > “Options” > “Charts” from the MT5 menu and change “Max bars in chart” to Unlimited. If this is not set to unlimited, the terminal cannot retain the roughly two years of 1-minute (M1) data the EA needs locally — no matter how much history exists on the broker’s server — and the dashboard’s “insufficient data” notice will never go away. After changing this setting, restart MT5 once before carrying out the steps below.

  • Open History Center: Press the F2 key on your keyboard.
  • Follow the Symbol Hierarchy: Click the “+” mark to the left of the symbol you want to use (e.g., Metals > XAUUSD) to expand it.
  • Select and Activate the Timeframe: Find “M15” in the list and look at the icon to its left. If the icon is gray, double-click on the text “M15”. Activation is successful when the icon changes to color (yellow and green).
  • Download: Click the “Download” button at the bottom and proceed with “OK” even if a warning appears. Wait until the green bar reaches the right end.
  • Restart MT5: After completion, close MT5 and launch it again.

While recommended parameter files are included with your initial download, these settings are updated periodically. Please follow the steps below to obtain the latest recommended parameter files.

Click “Update Recommended Parameters” from the Preference panel. The download panel (UPDATE RECOMMENDED PARAMS) will open.
Following the panel’s instructions, confirm under Tools > Options > Expert Advisors that https://tenkyo-fx.com is registered in the “Allow WebRequest for listed URL” list, then click “Check Update” to start the synchronization.

The “Apply Immediately” toggle at the bottom of the panel is ON by default, so the new recommended parameters are applied to the chart as soon as the download finishes. Turn this toggle OFF if you only want to download the file without applying it.

(You can also download them manually from the dedicated download site: https://tenkyo-fx.com/param-settings/)

Each label lit on the chart is the result of calculating the correlation between the dynamic changes of Bollinger Bands and the candlesticks.

1. Entry Process (From Omen to Confirmation)

  • EXPANSION (Omen): This lights up the moment the width of the 3rd standard deviation (±3σ) of the Bollinger Bands expands beyond the specified “Band Expansion Threshold (TH)” compared to the previous bar. This is a cautionary signal indicating that the “groundwork” for a statistical trend is ready.
  • ENTRY (LONG / SHORT): After EXPANSION lights up, an arrow and the price are displayed the moment all of the following conditions are cleared. If Scramble Mode (described later) is set to aggressive, an ENTRY signal may be issued suddenly without lighting EXPANSION.

2. Exit Logic (OW1–4: Four Definitions of Trend End)

TENKYO categorizes the grounds for judging that a “band walk has ended” into four types, maximizing profit while limiting risk.

  • OW1 (Convergence): Exits the moment Bollinger Band expansion stops and the band width begins to contract (squeeze). This is the most standard exit indicating that trend momentum has died.
  • OW2 (Counter-move): After entry, exits when candlesticks moving in the opposite direction (e.g., a bearish candle against a bullish move) appear consecutively for the specified “Allowable Counter-Bars.”
  • OW3 (Deviation): Triggered when price clearly breaks through a deviation line (the “OW3 Break Line,” set as a multiple of standard deviations away from the center line), judged to have deviated from the trend trajectory. This multiple is tuned per symbol and timeframe as part of the recommended parameters, so it is not always a fixed value like ±2σ (see Chapter 5).
  • OW4 (Center Line): Exits when the price returns to the center line (Basis) of the bands. This is the final line of defense when the trend has completely collapsed and is heading toward a range or reversal.

3. Special Exits and Defensive Signals

  • SECURED (Small Profit Exit): After unrealized profit reaches the “Break-Even (BE)” line, if the price returns, the system takes profit at the Entry Price + Spread + a specified amount (SEC). This is defensive logic designed to ensure zero losses.
  • FAIL (False Breakout Avoidance): An emergency stop-loss signal that applies only to entries made in Scramble Mode. If, on the very first candle after entry, the candle body is pushed back by half or more, the system judges the breakout was likely “false” and closes the position immediately — while the damage is still shallow. FAIL never fires for entries made in normal mode (NORM/OFF).
  • The zone where entry logic automatically shuts down (outside the Onion Zone): An uncolored area on the chart. This is a stagnation zone with “zero edge” where bands are not expanding and the price is wandering near the center line. It is the area outside the “Onion Zone” (the shaded band-expansion region you can enable via “Onion Zone Fill” in the Preference Panel), and all entry logic is automatically shut down within it.

This chapter is for advanced users. If you find it confusing or troublesome, you may skip it. (Recommended parameters by the developer are pre-configured for each of XAUUSD and XAGUSD.)

This is the heart of TENKYO, accessed by clicking the [Parameters] tab at the top of the chart. Here, you fine-tune the system’s entry conditions and exit logic, down to the smallest detail, for each of two time sessions.

1. Session Time Definitions

Unlike the FX edition, the GOLD edition is built around two sessions where market character shifts: “Asia (Quiet)” and “London + NY (Active).” Because trading volume in gold and silver tends to concentrate during the European and US trading hours, this two-way split provides sufficient precision.

  • Time Setting: Use the [ - ] [ + ] buttons (long-press supported) to slide the time forward or backward in 15-minute increments.
  • About the Reference Time: Session determination in the GOLD edition is fixed to London time (UTC+0). There is no time zone switching feature like the one found in the FX edition’s indicator. The times shown in the panel are always based on London time.

2. Details of Each Logic Parameter (All 12 Items)

Adjust the numerical values in each session’s column to optimize the logic. The [ - ] [ + ] buttons next to the values support long-press (rapid-fire) functionality; as you change the values at high speed, the dashboard’s performance (PF, win rate, etc.) rewrites in real time.

  • BB Period: The calculation period for the Bollinger Bands. *This item alone applies globally across all sessions (it can only be changed in the leftmost column).
  • Entry Sensitivity: The sensitivity (deviation multiplier) for detecting breakouts from the bands.
  • Band Expansion Speed: The threshold for determining the occurrence of the Onion Zone (Expansion).
  • Minimum Interval: The minimum number of candlesticks that must pass after the previous exit before a new entry is permitted.
  • Allowable Counter-Bars: Defines how many consecutive candles moving against the trend (bearish or bullish) will trigger an escape via “OW2 (Logical Exit).”
  • Wick Block: Specifies the ratio of the “wick length” relative to the candle body. It avoids entry by not recognizing price action as a breakout if it returns with a long wick.
  • Stop Loss: The initial stop-loss width set immediately after entry. Unlike the FX edition’s “pips” notation, the GOLD edition is set and displayed directly as a dollar-denominated price difference.
  • Break-Even: The moment unrealized profit reaches this amount, the stop-loss is moved to the vicinity of the entry price (the Small Profit Exit line).
  • Secured Profit: Specifies how much (in dollars) to add to the entry price when a Break-Even exit is triggered, to lock in a small gain.
  • Scramble Mode: Entry restrictions against violent movements during the early stages of band expansion. Choose from Aggressive (AGGR), Normal (NORM), or Off (OFF). Note that being too aggressive increases the risk of getting caught in false breakouts.
  • Surge Block: A filter multiplier to prevent buying at the top when an abnormally large candlestick (a sudden surge or crash) appears.
  • OW3 Break Line: Specifies which position on the band (as a multiple of standard deviations from the center line) a counter-trend bar must break through for the system to judge the trend has ended.

3. Managing and Saving Parameters (Action Buttons)

The three buttons at the bottom of the panel recall and save settings.

  • Recommended Settings: Loads and applies the latest “Recommended Parameter File” downloaded from the official server. While active, the button turns bright red (glowing).
  • User Settings: Recalls your previously saved “Custom Parameter File.” While active, the button turns bright green.
  • Save Parameters: Writes all values currently displayed on the panel (session times and all 12 parameter items) to a local file as your dedicated User Settings. Always save after finishing your adjustments.

The dashboard’s aggregation period (backtest period) is specified on the dashboard itself, not on this panel — see Chapter 9.

This is an explanation of the panel that expands when you click the [Preference] toggle button at the top of the chart. This dedicated section is used to customize the display settings and the environment that the calculations are based on.

1. Other Customizations

This is the UI settings area for switching the system’s appearance and language.

  • Background Color: [Dark] / [Light] Optimizes the color palette of the panels and signals (arrows and text) to match your chart’s background.
  • Language: [English] / [Japanese] Instantly toggles all text within the panels and notifications (alerts) between the two languages.
  • Onion Zone Fill: [OFF] / [Light] / [Dark] Selects whether to highlight the background of the high-probability “Onion Zone” (band expansion period) with color on the chart.

2. External Communication and Data Management (Action Buttons)

These buttons handle the exchange and preservation of external data.

  • Update Recommended Parameters: Accesses the official server to check for the latest optimization files. From here, you can transition to the “Recommended Parameter” panel and download the latest settings (see Chapter 3).
*Execution requires “Allow WebRequest for listed URL” to be registered for https://tenkyo-fx.com in MT5.
  • Save Settings: Writes the spreads, themes, language settings, and other changes made within the panel to a local file.

Note: If “Max bars in chart” (Tools > Options > Charts) has not been set to unlimited, “Fetch Past Bars” will automatically be cut short partway through. This does not mean the data doesn’t exist on the broker’s server — please first check the setting described in Chapter 2, Section 3.

Entries and exit signals appearing on the Band Walk Alert TENKYO GOLD screen can be sent as notifications to your smartphone.

Preparation on the Smartphone Side (Checking MetaQuotes ID)

To send push notifications, you must identify your MetaQuotes ID, which acts as the “address” for the alerts.

  1. Launch the mobile MT5 app.
  2. Open the settings menu.
    • On iPhone: tap “Settings” at the bottom right.
    • On Android: open the hamburger menu at the top left and choose “Settings.”
  3. Tap “Chats and Messages” (or “Messages”).
  4. Note down or copy the “My MetaQuotes ID: [8-character alphanumeric string]” shown at the bottom of the screen. Note: this ID can change if you reinstall the app, so check it again if notifications stop arriving.

Configuration on Desktop MT5 (Enabling Notifications)

Next, link that ID to desktop MT5.

  • Launch desktop MT5 and click “Tools”“Options” in the top menu.
  • Select the “Notifications” tab.

Configure the following:

  • Check “Enable Push Notifications.”
  • Enter the 8-character ID you found above into the “MetaQuotes ID” field.

Test: Click the “Test” button on the right of the ID field.

Setup is complete once a “Test Message from [PC name]” notification arrives on your phone.

Types of Events That Trigger Notifications

  • Expansion/No Entry: Notifies you when the “warning sign” that a band has expanded is detected, or when an entry is skipped because conditions weren’t met.
  • Entry (LONG/SHORT): Notifies you the instant the statistical edge is confirmed and the entry arrow actually lights up.
  • Exit: Notifies you the instant a trade is closed (OW, SL, SEC, FAIL, etc.).

This is an explanation of the panel that expands when you click the [History] toggle button at the top right of the chart. It is a powerful analytical tool that lists the entire history of virtual trades executed within the specified backtest period, allowing you to verify in detail exactly “at which point and for what reason” each trade was closed based on your parameter settings.

1. How to Read the Trade History List

The panel displays up to 60 rows of historical data per page, arranged in reverse chronological order (starting from the most recent) using a fixed-width font. Text is color-coded so you can distinguish between winning and losing trades at a glance.

  • TIME: The date and time when the trade was closed.
  • TYPE: Indicates LONG (Buy) or SHORT (Sell).
  • ENTRY / EXIT: The price at which the trade was opened and the price at which it was closed.
  • PIPS: The profit or loss for that trade. In the GOLD edition, this is shown as a dollar-denominated price difference.
  • REASON: The logical basis for ending the trade.
    • SEC: Secured profit (securing gains after moving the stop-loss to breakeven)
    • SL / TSL: Initial Stop Loss, or a Temporary Stop Loss used in Scramble mode
    • OW1–OW4: A logical exit that determined the trend had ended
    • FAIL: An exit to avoid a false breakout caused by a wick or a sharp reversal

2. Scrolling and List Navigation

If the trade history exceeds 60 entries, the [ - ] [ + ] buttons at the top of the panel let you page back through past data.

  • [ – ] Button: Scrolls the list toward older history (the past). Clicking the button and releasing it initiates continuous scrolling. Click it again to stop.
  • [ + ] Button: Scrolls the list toward newer history (the future). Click it again to stop.
  • [ Jump to Latest ] Button: No matter how far back you have scrolled, this button returns the list to the very top (the most recent trade history) with a single click.

3. Performance Report CSV Export

This feature exports the dashboard’s performance figures and the full history of verified trades to an external file.

  • [ Export ] Button: Clicking the green Export button generates a CSV file containing all data for the period currently aggregated on the dashboard (see Chapter 9).
  • Contents of the Exported Data: The top of the file contains a performance summary (profit factor, net profit, max drawdown, etc.), followed by the detailed history of every trade (time, direction, price, P&L, exit reason).
  • File Location and Naming: The file is saved to that chart’s own “MQL5” > “Files” folder. The filename is generated automatically from only the symbol and timeframe, e.g. TNK_Report_XAUUSD_15.csv, letting you dive straight into serious data analysis in Excel and similar tools.

The filename does not include a timestamp. Clicking “Export” again for the same symbol and timeframe will overwrite the previous CSV file. If you want to keep more than one export, rename the file yourself each time before exporting again.

This is an explanation of the statistical dashboard displayed at the top left of the chart. It is the most important monitor for objectively evaluating the effectiveness of your settings, as it calculates the “total performance of virtual trades” within a specified aggregation period, in real time.

1. Display and Functional Control via Toggle Buttons

Two toggle buttons at the top of the dashboard control the screen display and the system’s overall alert function.

  • [Show/Hide Dash] Button: Toggles the visibility of the dashboard panel itself. You can hide it if it obstructs your chart analysis.
  • [Notifications: ON/OFF] Button: The “master switch” for every alert sent by the system.

2. Choosing the Aggregation Period

Six period buttons — “1 Week,” “1 Month,” “3 Months,” “6 Months,” “1 Year,” and “2 Years” — appear at the bottom of the dashboard as an exclusive selector for the aggregation period (the default is “2 Years”). Whatever period you choose here also applies to the Trade History Panel (Chapter 8) and to CSV export.

3. Complete Explanation of Performance Indicators

The dashboard displays nine types of statistical data based on the trade results within the aggregation period (shown in silver directly below the title). Key indicators are highlighted in specific colors for quick identification. Unlike the FX edition, monetary indicators are displayed in “$” (a dollar-denominated price difference) rather than “pips.”

  • Total Count: The total number of trades executed within the specified period. For statistical reliability, please use these figures as a reference only when the sample size is at least 100 trades.
  • Profit Factor (PF): Calculated as “Total Gross Profit / Total Gross Loss,” this is the cornerstone of system evaluation. A value of 1.0 is the break-even point. A PF of 1.5 or higher indicates a highly competitive and excellent logic. This metric is not reliable with low trade counts; it requires at least 100 trades to be statistically significant.
  • Net Profit ($): The final net profit after subtracting all losses from profits across all trades. This is a highly realistic figure as it pre-deducts the configured “Spread.”
  • Max Drawdown ($): The “deepest valley” representing the largest decline from a previous peak in the equity (cumulative P&L) curve. A smaller value indicates a more stable and consistent upward trajectory.
  • Drawdown Ratio: The percentage (%) of the maximum drawdown relative to the peak of the equity (cumulative P&L) curve. (Max Drawdown / Peak Equity × 100)
  • Expected Payoff ($): The expected value representing the average profit (or loss), in dollars, anticipated per trade. (Net Profit / Total Count)
  • Wins / Losses: The breakdown of the number of trades that ended in a profit versus those that ended in a loss.
  • Average Win / Loss ($): Displays the average amount gained per winning trade alongside the average amount lost per losing trade. This allows you to verify the balance of your “Risk/Reward” ratio.
